It's too effing early to be head butting and baby punching. It's too early to be going back to work after working late last night. It's too early for a pump up. Well, that's what the people told me. They doubted me and said I was crazy for trying. Well, maybe I am crazy. But if being incomprehensibly awesome every day makes a person crazy, then lock me up in a white jacket. Here's your pump up, courtesy of Sublime.
It starts us off with:
Early in the morning risin' to the street
Light me up that cigarette and I strap shoes on my feet
Got to find a reason a reason things went wrong
Got to find a reason why my money's all gone
But I got a dalmatian and I can still get high
I can play the guitar like a mother fuckin riot
Ahhh. Sure you're up early today. But you can still smoke that cigarette, or eat those Lucky Charms or have an iced coffee. It's all about being positive. Sure, getting up early blows balls as bad as being around Mets fans, but you can get through it.
Life is too short so love the one you got cause you might get
runover or you might get shot
If you're driving to where I work in the morning, these two things could happen under the bridge on your way into the building. Tim, my neighbor, claims his foot was once run over and he was shot at (at the same time)walking through that very bridge that I speak of.
I don't get angry at the bills I have to pay
I don't get angry when my Mom smokes pot, hits
the bottle and goes back to the rock
I gotta admit, sometimes I do get angry when my mom smokes pot. But I only get angry because it's the only medicine that will help with her chronic headaches. My pops says she's been getting these headaches for 28 years, usually at night. But with this song, I'm channeling that anger into something positive.
So I challenge you: Find your own negative today. Find your own pot dependent mother. Get angry and turn it in to positive energy. Then take that energy and use it to have a positive day. And if you can't turn it in to a positive, turn it in to head-butt.
